Uttarakhand's circuits are usually built around a handful of regions: Nainital, a lake town and the most popular Kumaon hill station; Corbett National Park, India's oldest national park and a well-known tiger reserve; Rishikesh, known for river rafting on the Ganga, yoga ashrams and its suspension bridges; Haridwar, one of Hinduism's holiest cities and the site of the evening Ganga Aarti; and the wider Kumaon hills, including Ranikhet, for a quieter hill experience. Most Ghumega India itineraries combine two to four of these depending on trip length.
March–June is popular for pleasant hill weather in Nainital and good wildlife-sighting conditions in Corbett as water sources shrink. July–September is monsoon season — Corbett's core zones typically close for the monsoon, and landslide risk increases in the hills. October–February brings clear autumn skies through to a cold winter, with some Kumaon hill areas seeing snowfall in peak winter.
A quick Corbett weekend or a short Haridwar-Rishikesh trip works well in 2–3 nights. A combined Nainital-Corbett or Haridwar-Rishikesh circuit needs 4–5 nights. The longer itineraries below extend to a full 9–10 night tour covering the wider Kumaon region.
Dehradun's Jolly Grant Airport is the main gateway for Rishikesh and Haridwar, roughly 35km and 20km away respectively. Nainital and Corbett are usually reached by road from Delhi (around 6–7 hours) or via Kathgodam and Ramnagar railway stations, both well connected to Delhi by train.
